Over 3.5 million people\u2014half of them children\u2014have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries over the past several weeks. The consequences for Ukrainian refugee children are devastating. They have experienced trauma, loss, and separation from their families and communities. In addition to meeting children\u2019s basic needs, the international community must ensure they can resume their education as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maysa Jalbout, a Universal Education Fellow at Brookings Institution – appears at this year\u2019s BETT and LearnIT conference\u2014one of the world\u2019s largest education gatherings to outline the top priorities for the refugee education response across Europe. She cautions against short-term, uncoordinated solutions delivered in silos and underscore the opportunity for host countries to revise their refugee education policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
